Regional Exploration and Production: The regional geology is prospective for gold mineralization as evidenced by other past producing mines to the northwest in the Goudreau Lochalsch gold belt such as the former Edwards Mine and Magino Mine and the Cline and Richmont Island gold deposits.
Other Local Exploration: The property lies approximately 10 kilometres southeast of the Cline Gold Mine, which previously produced 332,670 tons of gold ore at a recovered grade of 0.21 ounces per ton. The Cline Gold Mine is in close proximity to the Richmont Island Gold Deposit, which presently contains reserves and resources of 1.1 million tons grading 0.25 ounces per ton. Both the Cline Mining and Richmont Island Gold Mines lie along the Goudreau-Lochalsh Gold Belt, which also includes the adjacent Edwards as well as the Magino gold property, both past-producing gold mines.
Property Geology: The Old Cabin Project is cut by a southeast trending splay/cross-fault off the prolific gold-producing belt known as the Goudreau-Lochalsh Deformation Zone. This belt contains Richmont Mines' producing Island Gold Mine as well as a number of former gold producers including the Magino, Kremzar, Edwards and Cline Mines. The Old Cabin project lies within an east-west striking succession of felsic to mafic metavolcanics and dioritic intrusions localized within the Goudreau Anticline.
Historical Highlights: Property is favorably situated within a southeast-trending splay/cross-fault off the Goudreau-Lochalsh Deformation Zone, a prolific gold belt. Historic channel-sample assays as high as 1.18 oz. gold per ton across a width of 5.5 feet. To date, thirteen independent disparate vein systems have been recognized which have returned subeconomic to economic gold grades including an extensively trenched 550 foot long zone on the No 10 zone which returned a channel sample assay of 1.18 oz/t gold across a width of 5.5 feet.
Work Completed to Date: IA program of stripping, trenching and channel sampling was conducted on a number of the vein systems in the area. Another sample along the Reid vein approximately 2 metres from the sample which assayed 211.82 g/t Au assayed 48.5 g/t Au
Recent Hightlights: 13 vein systems discovered. Recent samples as high as 211.82 grams/tonne (6.18 oz/ ton) gold.
Proposed Work: The most prospective vein discovered to date is the Reid Vein. At this juncture, drilling a series of short holes underneath the Reid Vein to determine potential strike and down dip extents would be proposed. Additional follow-up mapping and prospecting would also be recommended on the other vein systems in the area.
